Floral & Fringe.

Hello lovelies! Welcome back to my blog. I had to look at my calendar twice today to make sure today's date was correct. Omg! September is ~~almost~~ gone. Like it all happened in 2 weeks. This time really waits for no one oh! Anywho, how have you all been? Thank God another weekend is here. Hopefully, you'll get to rest a bit. I've been doing well over here. Trying to juggle quite a few things at the same time and I barely get enough sleep at night because that's when I work and concentrate better. Sometimes, I wonder how I function during the daytime but I guess it's my nature. Now, on to today's post.

Firstly, I'm really glad that I'm making the most use of what I have to put up my style posts. The thing is, you have to maximize the little you have till you get to your desired destination. There's no such thing as perfect timing. Start NOW. That being said, I'd like to appreciate all the support and encouragement shown in my first style post here , y'all are the real mvps.

So today's outfit is a casual one. It's something you can wear to work on a Friday and to hangout with friends. I got this flared pants as a gift and at it was love at first sight. I began dreaming of a million and one ways to style it and this is one of them.

I simply paired it with a sleeveless floral top and tucked it in to give the outfit an illusion of a jumpsuit. Then again, I love to tuck in a lot so I grabbed the opportunity.lol.

I wanted to give the look a little bit of edge and colour so I opted for my brown fringe bag and vintage sandals. Fringe items are making a lot of appearances in the fashion scene of recent, ranging from shoes, dresses, jackets, kimonos, just name it. I'm pretty sure other colours like red would have worked but I wanted to keep the outfit in a neutral pallet. I like to play it safe with colours but I'm trying to mix things up a bit these days.

I kept my accessories minimal with just a bracelet, wrist watch and petal shaped earrings to match my top. If there's one thing I can't be caught without, it's a wrist watch. It just gives me this sense of urgency and responsibility...can't really explain it.

The sun was giving me so much life in this shoot and I didn't do a lot of editing coz we all know the sun is your best filter. Hehe!

I'm a proud repeat offender so best believe y'all are going to see these pants make quite a few appearances here. My sandals are thrifted, same as my top and handbag. I love thrift shopping yo! That's where the most unique things are found and for unbelievably affordable prices.

A big shout out to my darling friend Ebere for taking me these amazing pictures. I'm yet to find a photographer and I'm still working on that.

Hello beautiful people! How's everything going? Hope all is well with you and yours. I'm doing good and not so much has been happening. I was stuck somewhere in my head but then, I'm not letting all that funk weigh me down. I blanked out(not in the crazy way.lol.) for a few days and now I'm back!

I've realized that sometimes, it's okay to hide away in our shells. Let's look at it from this angle. Most of us have been alive for the past 2 decades+ and more than half of these years were spent in schools at different levels. Now we're done with school (for now at least) and we're all about work and business. Our brains are constantly brewing new ideas, keeping dates, trying to keep up with friends, commitments and so many other things. Then one day you wake up and you're blank. Like your brain pressed the pause button and you're just floating around.

This has happened to me twice before and the first time, I fought it so hard because I thought I was losing it. It was as if my brain had strayed and I was lost somewhere.

It happened a second time and I let it be this time. To 'blank out' in this regard doesn't necessarily mean having selective memory where you choose to forget/ignore somethings/persons or that one is going insane. It can also be a time for retreat/renewal.

This time around, I let it run its course and when it ended, I picked up a few lessons from it;

Retreat! For us Christians, you know we have periods of retreat where we go into some sort of seclusion and go into deep soul searching and meditation, trying to find our paths once more and get back on track. So it doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong, it's a mental relaxation process which is very much needed. Mental health is paramount.

Your brain needs a break every now and then. Yes, that's why we have holidays after each term/semester in school and leave/vacation from work. Although, these focus more on physical relaxation, this is more of a mental vacation. Relax, it doesn't mean that you're going crazy just like I thought at first.

It lets you appreciate your being, nature and also, be less judgmental. It reminds me that its okay to be human, flaws and all.

God is enough. Amidst all the drama and whatnot, you realize that there's only one thing that really matters, and that's your relationship with God. It's a time to evaluate all other relationships in your life and put things in perspective once again.

It's okay to be alone sometimes. This gives you time to know yourself more and be a better version of YOU.

And no, It's not depression. At first I asked myself if I was depressed and googled a lot about depression and it appeared I was sound. It's not that deep yo.

That's about it guys. It's okay to shut out the world sometimes. It doesn't mean you're upset or depressed. We all need to give it a rest once in a while. Our mental health is as important as our physical health and should be given the much needed attention as well.

Child's Play.

Hi guys. How are you doing? How’s everything going? I’m doing okay. Nothing so exciting happening at my end. But I can’t possibly complain about anything.

Over the past 8 years, God has blessed me with 4 amazing nieces and a nephew. I like to see them as the younger siblings I never had, only that they came through my older siblings. Nevertheless, I’m glad I have some smallies to ~~boss~~ around once in a while.lol.

Being who I am, I love to play a lot as much as I tend to take things very seriously. When its play time with my babies, I always like to observe their pattern of behavior. For instance, one person usually assumes the role of the teacher, while the other(s) play the role of the student(s). Now, these roles are assumed despite the age differences among them. It doesn’t matter who’s older or younger, anyone can be the teacher.

Typically, the teacher is the boss of everyone in the classroom and is always obeyed no matter what. I observed that the students act accordingly and even when the roles are switched, the same thing happens. It’s a case of fall for me, I fall for you. Although, they aren’t really aware of what they’re doing, they just do it. Even when quarrels arise, they’re quickly resolved in minutes and play time goes on like nothing ever happened.

Now, I related this with adult relationships. Why as adults, it’s difficult to sustain/maintain relationships. The truth is, nobody wants to be taken for granted. Nobody is ready to play the role of a fool for a little while. We all want to assert the fact that we are bosses in our own right and cannot be trampled upon even if it’ll mean having peace reign.

It’s the same reasons nations go to war. They want to show that they possess the military strength and resources to prove that they’re the bosses and cannot be messed with. My mum always tells me something. She says, “if you want to make a relationship/marriage work, you have to assume the role of a fool now and then…fall for me, I fall for you na im dey make dog play sweet…” If you’ve seen dogs playing together then you should understand what that funny proverb means.

Little wonder Jesus said in Matthew 18:3, “Truly, I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Difficult. No? The world has so much evolved to a point where relationships have become very complicated and one cannot afford the seemingly little luxury of acting like a child. We have become too “adult” in our ways and no one is ready to be “childish”.

As I look at my little ones, I feel a little ache in my heart for them because in a few years time, the world and nature will demand that they put their "childish" ways aside and become adults. There will be no more child's play. The older ones will realize that they cannot be the students any longer and have to be the teachers because, well, they're older and 'wiser'.

Let me enjoy this view of them while it lasts.
